I am honored to be featured in Milton Fogg’s recent book, The Greatest Networkers In The World. It got me thinking about the questions I’m askedby so many who want help in their business. I’ve spoken to scores of people over the years, one on one, in small groups as well as keynote speaker to thousands. I’ve seen some rise to the top and others fizzle out. The question are always the same, although they’re phrased differently. They’re asking me to identify why they’re not successful and what they need to do. The answer? Something is missing . . .
The reason is because those who do succeed have a deep down burning core desire to do so. They don’t come into this saying they will give it a try or give it 6 months or whatever. They decide at a 100% core level that this is done and they will be successful. They will not be denied, and failure is positively not an option. Those who do not share that same core level of desire will not succeed.
I remember vividly when I decided that this was it and my desire was completely intense. I had a sense of urgency to accomplish my goal and I knew at a 100% core level that it was done. It consumed me and it dominated my thoughts above and beyond anything else each day and all day. This is a core desire and the people who achieve notable success in network marketing have this in common.
I’m not saying that you just look for people with desire and you’ll rise right to the top. Mostly everyone (especially in today’s economy) has the desire to make more money, but they still don’t make it in network marketing because there are levels of desire and they are not committed 100% at a core level. If you have a goal, whether it be to get out of debt or buy a new home or quit your job, and you have not connected it to your network marketing business, you will not succeed.
And hope, in business, is never backed by true desire. When it comes to your business, hope is for the undecided. I didn’t hope this would work. I knew 100% that this was my vehicle to the top, and I wouldn’t stop ’til I got there. That’s why people you sponsor quit. They hope it will work and they want it to work, but they simply don’t have the desire at a level of 100 percent to accomplish their goals through their network marketing business. They bought hope in order to quiet that little voice inside them that keeps nagging them to make a change and take control of their life. So, they join your business and if they don’t have the results they are looking for quickly enough, they quit in order to justify their fear of change and say that network marketing didn’t work. Well, it does work and I am a living, breathing example of that.
So, if your 100% core desire is to achieve your goals through network marketing, then find people who have a 100% core desire to do the same. That’s what I do. In networking marketing, those are the people you take to the top with you! Who’s coming with me?
Where did all this idea of “people to people money flow” come from? Well, according to the internet, the world’s primary source of information, MLM network marketing started long before, in the 1940s where a company trading under the name of “California Vitamins” discovered they could make more sales when they had a lot of sales representatives selling a small amount of product each, compared to the traditional business model of trying to have a few sales representatives selling a lot. California Vitamins also discovered that most of their growing customer base was made up of the friends and family of their existing sales representatives who had essentially referred them to the company as they were impressed with their product line.
This is how MLM network marketing started. The story of the 1940’s discovery of MLM network marketing shows that the first strategy was originally direct selling and was never intended to be through an mlm network marketing strategy. There were no referrals yet, just sales representatives and then gradually, as time passed, they found out that referrals were booming and a great idea, which gave them something to think about….what about a referral program?
New sales representatives were then created from existing satisfied customers and a commission based system was developed. Both teams and individuals were rewarded according to their sales efforts and as a result the MLM network marketing industry was born. The same company later changed their trading name to Nutrilite Food Supplement Corporation. This is how the direct referral system or what we all know as the MLM network marketing today, was born. Nineteen years later in 1959, Richard DeVos and Jay Van Andel founded the company Amway which is founded by using MLM network marketing. It was an abbreviation for the term “the American way”. Amway from day one was based on the same mlm network marketing concept, and 50 years later, still is.
Truly, MLM network marketing is a very fast and rapid growing type of business. It had its own humble beginnings and now many companies are replicating and duplicating this system. Of course, a long time ago, the idea of MLM network marketing was just to attract people into making money for the owners of the company but now, as the concept evolved, so did the purpose. Now, MLM network marketing does not only build money for the owners, but it also gives people equal opportunity at a very low price, without compromising quality.
One problem with starting a new business is of course the capital, especially if it is a big sum to start with. We all want a low start-up capital with fast results. That is exactly what we want, but most of the time it doesn’t guarantee big returns, unless it is in MLM network marketing. We must always remember, just because it requires only a small capital does not mean it has less income. One example is the Amway story above, imagine how many people got involved and how much money that is! As you do your network marketing business you must have good MLM training, because there will always be objections wherever you go. You will never please everybody and that is a guarantee and a proven fact. No matter how good you are or how effective your products are, some people will simply not be pleased with what you have to offer and therefore will start creating their own excuses and objections and that’s what we’ll be discussing here in this MLM training. The next reason would be the one I mentioned earlier and that is when people just use this “I do not have the money” excuse because they simply are not interested in joining your business and they do not want to tell you upfront of the exact reason. This objection of “I do not have the money” goes with other similar objections like “I do not have the time” and etc. since most people believe in this excuse which makes it effective in rejecting opportunities. As a professional network marketer with proper MLM training you should not get discouraged when people do this, but instead continue to share your business with them with the sole intention of plainly helping them out whether with their health or with their finances. If they are really firm and do not wish for you to continue then it is better for you to respect their decision and move on. In life, there are two types of income. One is the active income in which you make money from the performance of services. You generate income from your work but once you stop, the money also stops. Residual income on the other hand, is the opposite. Yes, you still have to perform some work and exert great effort to generate residual income, but it will happen once you start working hard. You only have to work hard for a period of time and when you are done building your business, you will still keep on making money even if you stop working for the rest of your life! That is why we refer to it as residual income.
Residual income is what everybody wants. Residual income allows you to enjoy life more to its fullest, compared to active income where you have to work hard for the rest of your life in order to get paid. Residual income is the key to economical flexibility and independence. That might be a strong declaration but it is true. Just understanding this alone should help you recognize just how highly effective a residual income is. Think about it for a second. Work is what most individuals spend their way of life doing for 50 hours a week. That is right, they work and work. The only reason most of us work is to generate income and to be able to have the kind of life that we had dreamed of. Would you believe that there is still hope for a life of being able to have earnings coming into your accounts without working?
If it sounds too good to be true to you, then you are not alone. Most of us were raised with the mindset of going to a university, getting a job, and then work and work and work until you retire and die. Although this can be referred to as planning in a way, it is not the best plan one could ever make. Life is too short and you only live once and it makes no sense to be investing most of your time and way of life working just for that income to pay for your daily needs and wants. Most individuals who follow this kind of plan end up working in a linear based active income which should be the last thing you would ever consider as a type of income source.
Linear income compared to residual income is where you exchange your time for cash. For most of your life, you work about forty to fifty hours a week and get compensated for that work you did. If you ever leave the workplace and stop working, your earnings will also stop. To be able to have true financial success with this type of income, you will need to improve the amount you make every hour to the point where you are able to save some, and it would have to be enough to let you retire and stop working, hopefully before you are too old to enjoy retirement. If you have this type of income, then you will have to make quite a lot of cash hourly if you ever wish to quit and retire before the age of sixty years old.
There are many ways to build residual income because it actually starts with an idea. You can make a product, a tune, a publication, or something and offer it and generate income off of the royalties. You can buy your home and lease it out, and gather cash each month or you can begin an online company, improve everything, and move away. You can also start building a traditional company, develop it, seek the services of someone to manage it, and be done. Obviously, some tracks will require more cash than others but either way, they lead to residual income.
The most affordable way to start that dream of having true residual income is through a network marketing business. I know network marketing is not for everybody, but you can still make residual income just by selling and promoting the company’s products from home or online. Network marketing has a lot of perks and benefits, not to mention the products are much cheaper when you sign on with a company, without compromising product quality. If you do not feel comfortable recruiting people then you can start off just by selling the products and help people improve their health by letting them try the best and top of the line products in the world. Just by having customers purchasing products, these people will keep ordering and their orders will go through you for the rest of your life, as long as you are still with that company. So as you can see, you don’t have to recruit people to do the business, you can have that residual income you have always wanted just by obtaining product customers. You will be rewarded through the company’s unbeatable benefits for top sellers plus you get to save a lot of people’s health too. It is all a win win.
Hopefully, by this time you already have some basic knowledge of residual income and believe in its power of giving you financial independence despite the negative thoughts some people have of the industry. Just look at the bigger picture. You will soon realize that every extra minute you have should be invested in creating residual income because it will be your path out of the rat race.
