When I ventured into network marketing almost 20 years ago, it was because I wanted to change my life or better said, I decided I was going to change my life! I wasn’t quite sure where to begin so I went to the most successful person I knew in the industry and I asked him for his two best tips that he could give me for me to create the success I was looking for. I’ll save the second tip for another article but this was tip number one. “Work on Yourself First”. I had no idea what he was talking about at the time and then it hit me. For me to attract people into my business, they had to want what I had but the truth was, I didn’t even want what I had so how would I expect anyone to follow me. I was dead broke, a chain smoker of more than 30 years, and I was living in an apartment in central Florida. Oh, and did I mention I was 50 years old and working 60 hours a week in a tile marble and granite showroom? This was exactly where I was when it all began. What I knew was that I wanted it and what I also knew was that I had no idea how to get it so I went searching for the answers.
Working on myself was a journey and harder than I ever imagined but where I started was to quit smoking. I figured if I’m going to be out there representing a nutritional company I surely couldn’t do that as a smoker. Getting rid of the cigarettes was the first conscious decision I made to begin my journey of working on me. It was one of the hardest things I ever did but I wanted to change my life so badly and I knew this was my first step. What I didn’t anticipate was the 50 lbs. that followed. The lesson I learned from that was to quit beating myself up for the weight I put on and celebrate the victory of quitting smoking. One thing at a time and one day at a time I began to make small changes that turned into victories and soon I began to believe that anything was possible.
It’s important for me to share this and be real and honest because so many people out there think that they need a big education, experience in the industry and a massive skill set to succeed. Well the truth is, I had none of those but what I did have was a core desire that ran so deep that it drove me to begin working on me. It didn’t take me long to figure out that what held me back for most of my life was what was between my ears.
What is holding you back? My advice to you is the same advice I got “work On Yourself First”. You Got This!!!

Food for thought. Yesterday morning, I was really tired and about to go out and climb this huge bridge onto Bouchelle Island where I live and I mentioned it to someone who I was texting with. He said “Enjoy, I know you’ll love it”. It was at that moment that it hit me that I didn’t love it at all but I loved how I felt after I did it. It’s that feeling of accomplishment on the way back home after I finally got to a flat road and celebrated that it was almost over. As I was climbing the bridge and trying to breathe I just kept reminding myself of why I was doing this. I want to be healthy and fit and whether I’m climbing the bridge or working out in a gym it’s always the same. I don’t always want to do it and sometimes I don’t but more times than not, I make myself get out there because I keep my focus on the end result of what I want. It’s not easy, but after each workout I celebrate the fact that I did it and feel so proud of myself for making it happen. I used to make excuses about not having enough time to fit exercise into my life or the weather was too cold or too hot to walk etc. It didn’t matter. I always came up with something until I decided that I was willing to pay the price for what I wanted. At that point exercise became a priority and I have spent the last 18 months making it fit and building my schedule around it.
It came to me today that it’s the same in our business. Most of us don’t like working hard every day and doing tasks that are out of our comfort zone or take us away from our families and things we enjoy and I’m no different. BUT, I learned many years ago that in order to create the life that I wanted and now live, I had to be willing to pay the price and prioritize my business and sacrifice for the future. Once again, just like the exercising, it wasn’t easy. In fact, it was really hard most times but I had my end result in mind and I was willing to do whatever it took to create the future I desperately wanted.
I spent most of my life Unhealthy, overweight and dead broke until one day I realized that if I wanted more it was up to me to go after it with a “failure is not an option” attitude. So, I decided exactly what I wanted knowing it would take hard work and sacrifice and I went after it like my life depended on it. IT DID!!!
I invite you to think about your life and ask yourself the question “Am I living my best life?” If not, what are you going to do about it? #LiveIntentionally #NoSurrender #YouGotThis
I just returned from a 3 day trip to the beautiful San Diego and it was absolutely incredible. Today I am thinking about all of the amazing people in my life as a result of the decision I made to become a network marketer. These past few days were filled with laughter, tears, hugs, light bulb moments but most of all relationship building. The beautiful thing about network marketing is that we get to choose our business partners and the people to share our journey. How incredible is that? I look back at all the years I spent in corporate America surrounded by people who I wouldn’t necessarily want to be around but someone else picked them as my co-workers. What an empowering feeling to know that I/we as network marketers get to choose the people to share our journey…
It was my absolute honor to spend these days with driven, committed and passionate people who have figured out that their freedom comes when they are willing to put their dreams above their fears and fight for what they want. At the core of their dream is hope. Hope for a better life. Hope for the freedom to choose to live the way they want to live on their own terms, to the beat of their own drum. I love surrounding myself with people who get it. When that hope and dream begins to swell up inside of you, when you’re starting to hear that voice screaming inside…The one that’s telling you you’re capable of so much more…that the best is yet to come…that it’s time to follow that dream. It’s time to act. We all can do it!!!
We begin by simply allowing the dream to be. We dare to dream and in doing so we give light to that same hope that has sparked so many other wondrous futures. I love being around people who are willing to pay the price to live the life they were put here to live. We each have the power to create our own destiny. We simply have to accept the challenge and, in many cases, be willing to open the gifts that are given to us.
Thank you to all of the amazing people who allowed me to be part of their life these past 4 days. I am forever grateful to know you and have the privilege of sharing your journey. Thank you for the heart felt talks, the hugs and allowing me to live my purpose of empowering you to live your best life…
It’s amazing to me how many people spend their lives settling for less than what they want or deserve because they are afraid to change course and venture into the unfamiliar. They let fear of change keep them stuck and unfulfilled. I was once one of these people until I realized that I would never have what my heart ached for unless I was willing to step out of all that was comfortable to me and listen to that voice inside that was screaming for me to move. It was time for a new beginning.
Here’s a perfect example of what I just don’t get. I was listening to a man speak about how much he hated the job that he had done for the past 25 years. He said that everyday he went to work he felt like it must feel like in prison. He dreaded getting up each morning to go to his job and he sounded so defeated and “joyless”. And, besides the fact that he wasn’t happy, he wasn’t making enough money to live. I asked him why he would spend 25 years of his life doing something that he had no passion for while building someone else’s dream and he had no answer.
It was at that time that I decided that I must help this man by sharing my business with him as I had created total freedom in my life by this point and I was once in his shoes. I was completely blown away by his response. He told me he could never consider anything else because he only had 5 years left until his retirement. My words “So you mean to say you are going to spend the next 5 years of your life doing something you absolutely hate in order that you can retire in 5 years with a pension that will be 1/3 of what you can’t live on now?” His answer was yes which absolutely made no sense to me.
We are all put here on this earth to let our light shine and make a difference and how dare us settle and play small because we are fearful of change. Too many of us settle in mediocrity most of our lives and in the end look back with regret. We have the opportunity every single day for a new beginning with a clean slate and yet we stay put. If what you are doing is not meeting your needs either spiritually, physically or financially, you have the power to change that beginning now.
I love new beginnings and have been blessed with the instinct to know when it’s time to change course. Many people wait till January 1st to write new goals and plan a vision and direction for their life. How about now? Why spend another day off your course! Who is ready for a new beginning?
Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion…
Behind every great artistic masterpiece and every significant work of literature and music there has always been passion. Behind every innovative company, every earth shattering idea and every achievement that ever changed the world, there has always been passion. In fact, behind every dream that ever saw its way out of the imagination and into reality, there has always been passion. And, of course, behind every future success you hope to achieve, there must also be passion. It is not a luxury, but rather a mandate for achieving our dreams…
Simply put, passion is that burning fire in our belly that compels us to do more than we ever thought possible. To be passionate is to be enthusiastic, inspired and motivated for the simple reason that you love what you do. Others see that in you and they want what you have. So many people are just existing and not living their passion because they don’t love what they do. And what happens when you love what you do, the same thing that happens when you fall in love. The world changes. When you love what you do, you not only do it more often but also better and with more intensity, drive and purpose. This not only adds meaning and joy to our lives but productivity to our work.
Without a doubt, passion is the great transformer in your business/organizations. Its power belongs to us all, not just to rock stars or CEO’s featured in the Wall Street Journal but to anyone who chooses to live a life of purpose. Passion is the fuel to every one of your dreams.
We’ve all heard it since we were young—follow your dreams! While this can be applied to most areas of life, it is also applicable to your business success. But it’s more than just following your dreams. It’s also about tapping into your passions and using it as motivation, direction, and inspiration.
One common piece of advice given to budding entrepreneurs is to follow your passion; do what you love. The idea is that by building a business rooted in something you are already passionate about, it will be easier for you to push through tough challenges and stick it out. Although all of that is true, it is just the beginning. You will now take that unstoppable passion, put a business plan together and go out there and LIVE OUT LOUD by creating the life you were put here to live..
I wish you all massive success…
